Marianne R. Klein aka Marika Roth’s interest in art was born out of her love for colors and shapes. She was always fascinated by painters like Modigliani, Chagall, Picasso, Klee, Van Gogh to name a few. Though she never thought of herself as one who was particularly gifted, she had a tendency to spend much of her time doodling cartoon figures or trying to copy the works of other artists. Eventually she discovered that creating figures on an empty piece of paper was a fascinating experience and very satisfying. This eventually led her to graduate from pencil to crayons and later to using watercolors.
During her studies at the School of Fine Arts in Montreal, Canada, Marianne learned that painting with acrylic actually opened up a new world for her. Not only was she able to create figures and objects from her own imagination, but the use of acrylic colors gave her subjects a much more depth dimension. In her view, there is nothing more trilling than to be able to sit down in front of an empty canvas and make that canvas come alive with shapes and colors of her own mind's eye.
Marianne believes that the art to a good life is to see the world through “rose colored glasses.”
