“Atmospheric conditions like fog or rain are frequent subjects for my work. What I see and what is hidden by the extreme lighting conditions results in landscapes that are moody and abstract. The surface of my work is covered in overlapping colors and textures. I create a rich surface of optically mixed color using colored pencil, watercolor, inks and/or oil pastel. A viewer of my work can step back from the complex surface of the art and see the landscape emerge. My landscapes are meditative spaces that draw in the viewer. The transitions between darks and lights, and from abstract to representational are my metaphor for the journey from emptiness to possibility.”
