"I find inspiration in many types of art and admire the work of others across a range of media. In photography, I am drawn to found images more than staged ones. I appreciate most the pictures that combine creativity, technical expertise and luck.
In this series, I was interested in creating a dreamy abstract look that shows the human form engaged in an activity that demands contortions of the body. The black wetsuit provides form and contrast. The use of motion blur creates an abstraction. Seascapes provide color and context. Soft transitions blend the human form with the blurred movement of water.
The name: “Kine” is for the kinesthetic nature of movement, and the humble notion of humanity as Kin. “Solo” is for the individual experience of riding a wave. Humans being human in their great endeavor to appreciate life. Photographed on the Malibu coast."- Michael Wood
