Vera Mulyani comes to photography through filmmaking and architecture. She did a workshop in Angkor Photo Festival with Antoine D’agatha in 2007. Born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia, Vera worked as a translator for Paris Match and Sunday Magazine journalists. She had her first exhibition in Hong Kong in 1997. She then moved to Paris and earned a Masters Degree in Architecture in 2007. Her thesis research “fuck da rules” questions Manhattan city planning that detected the economy collapsing through the Construction Boom of Manhattan. Now living in Los Angeles, Vera made her foray into filmmaking as a director in 2009.
